UTR Returns for the 2025 Colorado State Open

The 2025 CSO is brought to you by Gates Tennis Center & The Park People.

After a successful debut in 2022, The Colorado State Open will be a Verified UTR Event for a fourth year running.

2024 marks the 132nd year of the Colorado State Open! It will take place this year at Gates Tennis Center on Fri, Sept 5th -Sunday Sept 14th

New to the 2025 CSO

In a bid to widen the CSO’s reach, the tournament will be held across multiple sites across the Denver-metro area. The final three days (September 12-14th) will still be held at Gates Tennis Center. This will ensure all UTR and Open level semifinals and finals will be at Gates Tennis Center as the CSO celebrates Gates Tennis Centers 50th Anniversary with a free party for the tennis community.

Confirmed site Locations will be announced the day registration opens (June 1).

The CSO will also be expanding to offering junior divisions. Juniors aged 18 & under can compete in their respective UTR divisions, culminating in an 18 & under ‘Open’ UTR division for boys and girls respectively.

Finally, in a national first, the CSO will become one of the most inclusive tournaments in the country, and known globally to UTR, by hosting our first Open Disability Division for adults 18 & over with intellectual disabilities. In a bid to reach a wider audience and different demographics of our community, the CSO has partnered with Tall Tales Ranch, a Colorado-based non-profit, to help raise awareness of the work they do for adults with disabilities.

The CSO Tournament Committee strongly encourages all participants to play at their UTR level. However, 'playing up' to a higher level is allowed. You will not be allowed to play down. For example, if you are a male rated 6.65 you will not be allowed to enter the UTR 5-6.5 division

Your UTR Rating is fluid & adjusts based on all results.

PLEASE NOTE

Your UTR Rating at the tournament deadline will be used to decided what division you play in.

Doubles Divisions: Both players must not exceed the maximum UTR for that division. It is NOT AN AVERAGE.

A lot of time, effort & discussions with CSO & UTR representatives went in to finalizing our UTR divisions.

If you have any further questions please reach out to CSO Tournament director Alex Dove via email.

Age Division Information

Age Division play will be on Friday 4th and conclude by Sunday 15th.

A minimum of 3 players/teams are required for a division to run.

All Age Division matches will be 2 out of 3 sets with a 10 point tie breaker in-lieu of a 3rd set

You do not need a UTR membership to participate in a UTR event - every tennis player already has a FREE UTR account to view your rating. If you are interested in learning more about UTR, visit www.universaltennis.com.
